General Conference!!

Sadly, we have to wait another six months for General Conference to come back. It was amazing!!! :)

Lisa being Lisa. . .

For the littles, this is conference . .

Yes, conference means building a fort! xD for the little ones. . .

Skyped with Natalie for family scriptures.

Monday I had to work. Later I was able to pick up my convert Vanessa, and her friend Maria (a convert of a couple weeks), and bring them to FHE, where we made arepas (a Venezuelan food Vanessa made for me and my companion once when I was on my mission) and had fun talking.
Tuesday I had to work again.
Thursday I had Institute.
And the reason the rest of the week was slow. . . ;) Saturday was the start of General Conference!!! :) Sadly I had to work during the afternoon session, which I watched Sunday morning before that session started. :)

I'm going to share some of my favorite quotes.

Saturday Morning Session

President Henry B Eyring: About how the parents need to catch up to the youth in their Temple and Family History work. "The Lord’s work is not to solve problems, it is to build people."

Elder M. Joseph Brough: "Heavenly Father knows what you and I need better than anyone else." "Repentance is not a punishment, it’s a privilege . . .no wonder the scriptures teach us to preach only repentance."

Elder Weatherford T. Clayton: "Even in our moments of deepest grief, in the moments when time stands still and life seems so unfair, we can find comfort in our Savior because He suffered as well."

Elder Dale G. Renlund: "Like the true Shepherd He is, He seeks us and finds us to offer relief and hope." "God is clear about what is right and acceptable to Him."

Elder Ulisses Soares: "Faith is a living force."

Elder Mark A. Bragg: "Families increase in light as they increase in love and compassion."

Russell M. Nelson: "Under the Father’s great, eternal plan . . . it is the Savior who broke the bonds of death."

Saturday Afternoon Session

Elder Robert D. Hales: "We cannot be part-time disciples."

Elder Jeffery R. Holland: "In singing the Anthems of Eternity, we should stand as close as humanly possibly to our Lord Jesus Christ, who has absolutely perfect pitch." (Is it any surprise that this was one of my favorite talks?) "Remember it is by divine design that not all the voices in Gods choir are the same."

Elder Gary B. Sabin: "Be all in . . Not partially in." "It is better to follow the Creator than the crowd."

Elder Valeri V. Cordon: "Don't lose the spiritual language of the gospel." "We are imperfect people trying to learn a perfect language."

Eder Neil L. Andersen: "Remembering when we are discouraged the light an love we have felt from God."

Elder M. Russell Ballard: "Knowing where you're going and how you expect to get there can bring meaning, purpose, and accomplishment to life." "Keep the Gospel of Jesus Christ at the center of your goals and plans."

Sunday Morning Session

President Thomas S. Monson: FIVE NEW TEMPLES IS A THING!!! :) "The testimonies of others will only carry you so far."

Sister Joy D. Jones: "Everyday of our lives courage is needed." "Children are great imitators, so give them something great to imitate."

Elder Yoon Hwan Choi: "Do not lose your faith because of people around you." The gospel has been restored, and it is perfect, but the members are not yet." (aka: The Church is a hospital for sinners, not a country club for saints). "His arms are always open unto you."

Elder Ronald A. Rasband: We must act on the first prompting." "Spiritual first responders bringing help from on high." (And as quoted from somewhere . . . he's saying if you feel a prompting: JUST DO IT. ;) )

Elder L. Whitney Clayton: "Over time simple habits of belief lead to miraculous results." "Real obedience accepts Gods commandments unconditionally and in advance." "Those who are deliberate in doing those little things are blessed with faith and strength that go far beyond the acts themselves."

Elder Dallin H. Oaks: "It is not enough to just be convinced by the gospel. We must act and think so we are converted by it."

President Dieter F. Uchtdorf: (is it bad that I cheered when they announced him?) "Fear rarely has the power to change our hearts and it will never transform us into people who love what is right." "God trusts us to learn from our missteps and make the right choices." "He has given us an abundance of reasons to rejoice. We just need to find and recognize them."

Sunday Afternoon Session

Elder D. Todd Christofferson: "Do not abandon those who would welcome truth."

Elder Joaquin A. Costa: "If you are confused, don’t worry. Remember the feelings you have received. They come from God." "Experience repentance. Nothing draws you closer to Jesus Christ than a desire to change."

Elder S. Mark Palmer: "Those who are hardest to love need love the most." "Let it go and follow Him." (I totally thought of Frozen when he said this. . .)

Elder Gary E. Stevenson: "As you heed promptings from the Holy Ghost, you may be removed, without even knowing, from spiritual and temporal danger."

Elder C. Scott Grow: "He can make of us more than we could even make of ourselves." "The very best way to know God is to become like Him."

Elder Benjamin De Hoyos: "The key to teaching as the Savior taught is to live as He lived."

Elder Quentin L. Cook: "Our personal prayers to Heavenly Father in the name of Jesus Christ provide more blessings than we can currently comprehend." "Without faith among men God can do no miracle among them."

And that concluded an amazing conference weekend. I loved the talks that were given. :)

I hope everyone had an amazing week and that this one goes just as well!

Love,

Kalani
